The story centers on Inspector John Marlott. Chronicles is not for the faint of heart: there are moments when it goes for horror movie-style jumpscares, and its content is on the whole unsettling. Netflix is a registered trademark of Netflix, Inc. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this show, but there were times were I drifted off during one or two scenes. Characters fight, people are threatened with knives and a gun.

The fault here lies not with The Frankenstein Chronicles so much as the environment and the creatives with authority who brought this into being starring Bean. The authors of this site also have no affiliation with Netflix. The final episode also throws the entire pacing out of wack and feels extremely rushed itself. With the financial investment of the deal, it seems a certainty that Netflix would bankroll at least one more season if the series does well with audiences. The story develops at a steady pace, without trying to create too many forced A great twist on the familiar story of Frankenstein's monster. This does not mean the series has been canceled.

The Frankenstein Chronicles TV Review

A brief scene featuring a raid on a packed whorehouse, people are seen fleeing, but it's hard to make out exactly what was going on. Several corpses and parts of corpses are seen, and there is a public hanging. But if you can wait that long, the payoff is worth it. Do you know who had syphilis in the 1800s? The premise at first is deceptively simple: John Marlott Bean , a rough but honest Inspector in a time before a centrally organized police force, discovers a mysterious body washed up on a riverbank. Technically, there is no official word that would suggest The Frankenstein Chronicles would be getting another season.

The Frankenstein Chronicles Series 2

The characters have interesting stories that are fleshed out nicely and interact in realistic, if not obsessive, ways. But today a new glowing review of the show appeared, and it made me want to shake the mothballs from this and let it see the light. Performers include: Sean Bean, Richie Campbell, Vanessa Kirby, Eloise Smyth, Elliot Cowan, Tom Ward, Ryan Sampson, Laurence Fox, Paul Kennedy, Martin McCann, Charlie Creed-Miles, Stuart Graham, Jessie Ross, Ed Stoppard, and Lucy Cray-Miller. In 1830, we find him chained and manacled in a cell at Royal Bethlem Hospital, on a wing for the criminally insane. The first season lagged in places for me, and definitely lets Marlott muddle about chasing after shadows for too long. Our Take: Wow, this is a weird show. I watched the first two seasons in the space of a few days.

So how should we talk about The Frankenstein Chronicles? I also have to say that the costumes, sets and locations are on point. In London, in 1827, standing upon the riverbank, Marlott stumbles upon a body. John Marlott forges ahead with his investigation, despite the physical and emotional toll it takes on him. As Inspector Marlott delves more deeply into the mystery of the patchwork corpse, he finds that he may have uncovered a secret best left alone. It stars Sean Bean as an inspector assigned to discover who is cutting up and reassembling dead children -- a demented act seemingly inspired by the then-recently published novel Frankenstein.

Bean would still appear to be doing just fine. All is not what it seems of course , and Marlott is forced to push himself beyond the call of duty to decipher what the heck is going on with these dead kids! I admit that the first few episodes were kind of sloW. And there were some originality to it, just not a lot. The summary for the series teases a mix of horror, politics, history, science, medicine, and demonic forces. Peel has his own motivations for wanting to find a suspect, and the case dredges up emotional and physical demons for Marlott, a widower with a troubled past. And the show quickly devolves into a jumbled mess. Started watching for Sean Bean, finished in a day due to being hooked on a captivating spin on a classic story.

The Frankenstein Chronicles TV Show on Netflix (Cancelled or Renewed?)

Is there even a killer? The problem for me with The Frankenstein Chronicles lies with Sean Bean, who not only stars in almost every frame but serves as co-producer and executive producer. I admit that the first few episodes were kind of sloW. What's on Netflix is a website of Posterity Information Technology Ltd. I found myself losing interest every few minutes due to lack of anything exciting going on. This is a crime show desperately concerned with the origins of the modern crime genre, particularly in the sketchy give-and-take between real life and fiction.
